Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the Senior Accounting Manager with Central Team and Partner transactions within NetSuite.

• Evaluate the control environment of the accounting system to minimize risks and enhance financial workflows.

• Perform internal audits of accounting documents, processes, and general ledger schedules.

• Aid in the development and management of internal controls to maintain data integrity.

• Detect financial control deficiencies and suggest improvements to systems and procedures.

• Create and implement corrective action strategies.

• Manage, revise, and uphold accounting practices and organizational policies.

• Ensure adherence to GAAP and IRS regulations for nonprofit financial statements and internal controls.

• Supervise technical accounting for nonprofit grants and for-profit revenue generation.

• Guarantee compliance with ASC 958/ASC 606 for revenue recognition, fund restriction monitoring, and sales tax obligations.

• Oversee grant expenditure and compliance with donor-imposed limitations.

• Maintain schedules that track net assets released from restrictions.

• Coordinate with Payroll regarding multi-entity C3, C4, and P.B.C. allocations.

• Reconcile payroll registers with the general ledger and manage intercompany allocations.

• Ensure precise benefits and tax accounting.

• Offer guidance to the Director of Finance on technical accounting, internal audit results, and regulatory issues.

• Collaborate with Finance, People, and Development teams.

• Lead preparations for internal audits and work with external auditors on annual audits and tax filing requests, including Form 990 and K-1.

• Eliminate obstacles and hold the Finance team accountable for equity, inclusion, and service standards.

• Assist with other manager-level Finance responsibilities in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Contribute to advancing anti-racist organizational objectives and enhancing program inclusivity.

• Act as a resource for partner networks and encourage knowledge sharing.

• Adopt an entrepreneurial mindset toward work and skill acquisition.

• Pursue opportunities to enhance expertise in current and emerging platforms and lean startup methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing full-cycle accounting processes.

• Ideally, a background in internal audit and process enhancement.

• Specific knowledge in grant revenue recognition and payroll-accounting reconciliation.

• Strong attention to detail and a proven record of producing error-free work.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders.

• Ability to create compliant and innovative finance and accounting solutions.

• Dedication to social change and civic engagement, particularly with BIPOC and low-income communities.

• Interest in digital media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, podcasts, and streaming services.

• Must adhere to COVID safety protocols and be fully vaccinated and boosted, except for employees in Florida and Texas where vaccination is encouraged but not mandated due to state laws.
