This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +24 more states.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end processes within designated areas, including stakeholders, systems, accounting procedures, and internal controls that support reporting.
• Ensure the seamless transition of capital assets from the inventory warehouse to work in progress and the capitalization of in-service assets.
• Utilize an end-to-end process perspective in executing assigned tasks and analyses.
• Compile and review journal entries in adherence to GAAP and assist with period-end closing activities.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and promptly investigate and resolve any variances.
• Conduct period-end analysis and closing activities, identifying leading indicators and trends for timely business decisions.
• Promote communication and teamwork both within and across organizational boundaries.
• Assist with internal and external audit activities, ensuring SOX compliance.
• Complete special projects and analyses as requested by department leadership.
• Provide general business support to partners and internal customers.
• Stay updated on accounting, reporting, and disclosure standards from FASB, SEC, and PCAOB.
• Analyze and support the implications of changes in accounting and reporting standards.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a focus on Accounting or Financial Accounting.
• At least one year of hands-on general ledger accounting experience, ideally in a public accounting or corporate accounting setting.
• Knowledge and understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP).
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
• Intermediate level of knowledge in Excel.
• Functional familiarity with general and corporate accounting processes and internal controls.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate accounting issues, including the development of processes to document them.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong planning and organizational skills, and the capability to multitask, prioritize, and deliver outcomes.
• Experience in activities aimed at process improvement.
• A passion for learning, continuous improvement, and personal development.
• Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to support the financial closing process.
• Proficiency with Oracle Fusion is preferred.
