Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +35 more states.

📋 Description

• Prepare and record journal entries in compliance with U.S. GAAP.

• Compile, analyze, and validate financial information for the accounting closing process.

• Prepare and scrutinize balance sheet account reconciliations while addressing discrepancies.

• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

• Record, validate, and sustain general ledger transactions.

• Monitor transaction activities, validate system interfaces, and resolve inconsistencies.

• Process and assist with billing, collections, account reclassifications, and other accounting entries.

• Prepare and maintain documentation related to accounting transactions, processes, and procedures.

• Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and systems.

• Aid in internal and external audits, including schedules, reconciliations, analyses, documentation, and auditor inquiries.

• Assist with J-SOX testing, documentation, and compliance activities.

• Prepare financial reports, information, and analyses.

• Support ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects.

• Adhere to internal controls, policies, and procedures.

• Collaborate with Operations, IT, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.

• Engage in cross-training and maintain professional and technical knowledge.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience is required.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting practices, and financial reporting standards is necessary.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting tools is essential.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.

• Ability to document processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support ongoing process enhancements is needed.

• Capability to prioritize tasks, organize workload efficiently, and meet deadlines is essential.

• Ability to prepare, analyze, and reconcile financial data accurately with keen attention to detail is required.

• A Bachelor of Science in Accounting is preferred.

• A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Management is also preferred.

• A Bachelor of Science in Economics is preferred as well.

• An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Familiarity with accounting systems is necessary; SAP experience is preferred.

• Willingness to travel domestically by air up to 10% is required.
