Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Macedonia, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Maintain precise accounting records across various U.S. companies utilizing QuickBooks Online.

• Execute reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, merchants, balance sheets, and other accounts.

• Investigate and rectify any discrepancies found during reconciliations.

• Evaluate transactions to ensure accurate account classification and appropriate accounting treatment.

• Prepare and enter journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and adjustments for month-end closing.

• Independently complete assigned segments of the month-end close process for five brands.

• Review accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and assess merchant processor activities.

• Analyze inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) activities and conduct revenue reconciliations.

• Assist with U.S. sales tax obligations, which include reviewing state liabilities and reconciling sales tax payable accounts.

• Collect and organize financial documentation for audits and compliance reviews.

• Extract General Ledger and Trial Balance data and create supporting schedules.

• Collaborate with third-party sales tax platforms and providers.

• Work directly alongside the Controller.

• Enhance efficiency and workflows with an AI-centric approach.

• Assume responsibility for accounting duties across five U.S.-based e-commerce wellness brands.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience.

• QuickBooks Pro-Advisor Certification is mandatory.

• Familiarity with Google Workspace.

• Availability for some daily overlap with U.S. Central Time business hours.

• Comfortable using AI and automation tools.

• Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets.

• Exceptional attention to detail is required.

• Preferred: prior experience in U.S.-based accounting.

• Preferred: experience with U.S. sales tax.

• Preferred: familiarity with Avalara/AvaTax.

• Preferred: experience in e-commerce accounting.

• Preferred: knowledge of inventory and COGS accounting.

• Preferred: experience with Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, or other high-volume merchant/e-commerce platforms.

• Must be willing to work remotely as an independent contractor.

• This position should be treated as a full-time, primary role.
