Account Executive – Employee Benefits

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the employee benefits portfolio assigned to you.

• Cultivate client relationships and implement strategies to enhance client growth and retention.

• Collaborate with Producers to create and execute clients’ multi-year strategic plans.

• Assist clients in managing their health and welfare programs.

• Serve as a liaison between employer group administrators and insurance providers.

• Keep account files up to date and maintain the HUB systems and agency management systems.

• Evaluate and compare insurance plans for their appropriateness.

• Advise clients on HUB resources, offerings from carriers/vendors, and current industry trends.

• Aid in resolving billing issues, conducting audits, and performing reconciliations.

• Develop and communicate a Market Analysis strategy; assess results and negotiate with carriers.

• Ensure that services are executed according to project plans and that deliverables meet quality standards.

• Coordinate introductions for clients and HUB Specialty Practice Teams.

• Collect data and prepare/conduct presentations for renewals, open enrollment, and post-renewal processes.

• Lead the implementation of new and renewal plans or programs.

• Address escalated, complex service issues between clients and carriers.

• Manage enrollment processes and oversee online enrollment systems.

• Collaborate with Producers on strategies for benefits, program design, financial analysis, benchmarking, and funding alternatives.

• Prepare or conduct peer reviews of EB Comp Disclosure.

• Provide benchmarking data and plan assessments.

• Guide Business Analysts on contribution modeling.

• Offer feedback to sales, account management, and marketing teams.

• Conduct QA reviews of financial and communication materials.

• Maintain strategic planning, compliance calendars, and timelines for implementation.

• Stay informed about changes in the insurance industry and pursue continuing education.

• Submit BOR letters and secure carrier contracts, renewals, and benefit descriptions.

• Update open enrollment packets, plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and potentially 5500 filings.

• Collaborate with Producers and HUB personnel on client service, marketing, and renewal initiatives.

• Execute other assigned duties and projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED is required; a college degree is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the benefit insurance industry (brokerage preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Possession of a Life & Health insurance License.

• Preferred experience in managing wellness programs for large accounts.

• Preferred experience in managing self-funded accounts.

• Extensive knowledge of employee benefits products and services.

• Familiarity with ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA regulations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and agency management systems.

• Capability to solve complex problems and implement effective solutions.

• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks efficiently.

• Effective and professional communication skills with both internal and external customers.

• Strong ability to develop and sustain client relationships.

• Competence in collaborating effectively with insurance and service vendors.

• Ability to work well in a team environment and mentor others.

• Skills in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
