This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +13 more states.
• Cultivate and enhance relationships with creators within the Kickstarter community, engaging with promising creators, publishers, and authors who can utilize Kickstarter to realize impactful projects.
• Monitor creator interactions through Kickstarter’s CRM, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs) for curation and outreach support.
• Manage relationships with top-tier creators in the designated category, ensuring regular communication to maintain their business while collaborating with Kickstarter’s creator success team to assist their launches.
• Create and improve category-specific educational materials in partnership with internal teams to better assist creators.
• Identify opportunities to inform and empower creators by sharing best practices, industry insights, and available platform resources.
• Act as the representative of Kickstarter within the designated category, collaborating with Kickstarter’s Communications and Marketing teams to seek press opportunities and engage in both in-person and virtual community development initiatives.
• Forge and enhance relationships with institutions and partners in the wider creative ecosystem to strengthen Kickstarter’s referral pipeline.
• Work together with industry stakeholders to broaden Kickstarter's presence and visibility in key creative communities.
• Contribute to Kickstarter’s strategy for industry events, attending as a representative to interact with creators and industry audiences through networking and public speaking engagements.
• Utilize events to connect with both new and returning creators, establishing Kickstarter as the preferred platform for their funding needs.
• Contribute to the strategic approach for the designated category, collaborating across the company to achieve key revenue, creator retention, and growth targets.
• Champion Kickstarter in a competitive funding environment, identifying and pitching new potential creators while working to re-engage those considering alternative funding options.
• Collect market intelligence on industry trends and competing platforms to inform outreach strategies and positioning.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new product features and services by recruiting beta participants and promoting adoption among priority creators.
• Serve as an internal advocate for the needs of creators, relaying feedback on product, policies, and user experience to internal stakeholders and working across teams to enhance the creator experience.
• Utilize Kickstarter’s category-specific curation channels to highlight creators' work and collaborate with marketing teams to showcase priority creators across brand channels.
• Formulate strategies to spotlight success stories and motivate new creators to engage with Kickstarter.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the publishing industry, including a network of connections and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Literary and talent agencies
• Major traditional publishing houses
• Influencer, celebrity, and content creator publishing
• Experience as an acquisitions editor, literary agent, or in other sales and business development roles within the publishing sector.
• Proven ability to collaborate and execute strategic plans that yield data-driven results.
• Outstanding communication skills: skilled in speaking and presenting to both small and large groups, engaging with the press, and capable of representing Kickstarter positively at industry events.
• Strong understanding of what makes projects in their focus category exceptional – ability to independently assess quality, innovation, creativity, and clarity of presentation when reviewing a campaign.
• Bonus points for being a creator in their focus category, entrepreneur, and/or Kickstarter creator.
• Additional bonus points for professional experience and connections within a field that presents potential for Kickstarter (i.e., a domain where we currently lack a strong audience).
