This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Complete the necessary tutor training and onboarding prior to delivering tutoring services.
• Prepare for and conduct individual and/or group tutoring sessions effectively.
• Assist currently enrolled IllinoisCOM students in developing academic success strategies.
• Clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and aid students in resolving specific issues.
• Record tutoring attendance and services using the specified system.
• Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of examinations, student information, and course materials.
• Implement study techniques tailored to various learning needs, styles, and preferences.
• Utilize active listening, questioning, inquiry, curiosity, and collaborative learning to assess needs and track progress.
• Create a professional and welcoming atmosphere that respects students’ diverse backgrounds, cultures, language skills, and experiences.
• Engage in professional development and leverage feedback and reflection to enhance practice.
• Provide direct support with equipment, learning objects, and materials essential for student success.
• Make suitable referrals to campus and community resources when required.
• Communicate with students in a clear and supportive manner.
• Must be currently enrolled and in good standing as a second-, third-, or fourth-year student at an accredited MD or DO granting medical school.
• Proven proficiency in each course or subject area that the applicant will tutor.
• Must maintain good academic and professional standing throughout the duration of employment.
• Demonstrated mastery of the subject area through relevant coursework, professional experience, faculty recommendation, or other credentials approved by IllinoisCOM.
• Capability to provide virtual tutoring from a private, professional setting with reliable internet access and suitable audio and video capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion and uphold confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Competence in managing professional and interpersonal relationships and effectively interacting with diverse members of the institutional community and external constituencies.
