Academic Support Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Facilitate course placement for newly enrolling high school students.

• Input high school transcripts into the system.

• Oversee the dual credit enrollment registration process and act as the main contact for college representatives.

• Offer support and guidance to students interested in NCAA opportunities.

• Conduct Individual Graduation Plan meetings and manage course selection for assigned students.

• Organize academic initiatives for school counseling, which include creating course information documents, making adjustments to high-level courses, adding second-semester electives, and handling summer school registration.

• Provide assistance with course adjustments resulting from semester failures.

• Enter data into the online student information system and PowerSchool.

• Help coordinate college tours, Career Day, and other high school counseling learning experiences.

• Step in as a short-term school counseling substitute when necessary.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• South Carolina Counselor certification.

• Master's degree in School Counseling.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and web-based applications.

• A customer-focused approach.

• Strong interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Capability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for school events and state testing, which may include overnight travel.

• Openness to working flexible summer hours for an additional stipend.

• High degree of independence and flexibility.

• Experience in high school counseling.

• Familiarity with Parchment and PowerSchool.

• Knowledge of the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy and Activity Coding System.

• Understanding of South Carolina colleges and scholarship opportunities.

• Knowledge of NCAA regulations.

• Certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator.
