This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Peru, +4 more countries.
• Oversee the complete design of Course 1 for Jala University's FinTech Engineering Specialization.
• Create high-quality course materials tailored for senior software engineers.
• Address the card payment ecosystem, regional instant payment infrastructures, ledger architecture, and regulatory compliance through design.
• Develop labs, examples, and exercises utilizing Go and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Construct a 10-week incremental lab where students will develop a multi-tenant core ledger and transaction API.
• Direct the creation of an event-sourced, double-entry ledger backend featuring a secure REST/JSON API, strict idempotency, BaaS data partitioning, and concurrency controls.
• Establish clear rubrics for each project milestone.
• Generate public-quality technical explanations, documentation, and contextual regulatory notes specific to Latin American markets.
• Essential direct professional experience at a payments fintech operating within Latin America (Clip, dLocal, Kushki, Ebanx, Stone, Conekta, or similar).
• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years in FinTech/payments.
• Public writing samples demonstrating technical explanation capabilities, including the ability to write to publication standards.
• Discipline in reproducibility: pinned dependencies, containers, seeded runs, and documented decoding parameters.
• Proficient in creating examples, labs, and exercises in both Go and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Production-oriented mindset: designing systems that engineers can implement in real-world scenarios.
• Familiarity with card transaction processes, including ISO 8583 authorization, capture, reversal, settlement, issuer-to-merchant actor chains, BIN routing, acquiring models, interchange, and knowledge of ISO 20022.
• Practical integration experience with at least one of PIX, SPEI, or Transferencias 3.0, encompassing QR payloads, interoperability, and settlement flows.
• Expertise in multi-tenant, event-sourced, double-entry ledgers; understanding isolation levels, locking, idempotency, transaction state machines, and preventing double-spending under high concurrency.
• Knowledge of Latin American clearing and settlement networks such as SLC, CERC, Prosa, ACH, and Coelsa, as well as BaaS/Ledger-as-a-Service integration.
• Working knowledge of at least one Latin American regulatory framework: BACEN, CNBV, BCRA, or SFC; understanding settlement finality, non-repudiation, and audit trails as engineering constraints.
• Conceptual understanding of stablecoin settlement for cross-border payments (preferred).
• Experience in writing technical documentation, such as RFCs, ADRs, and OpenAPI specifications (preferred).
• Proficiency in Spanish to create contextual regulatory notes for specific Latin American markets (preferred).
• A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
