This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and pitch stories for the Daily Skimm, encompassing both larger What’s Happening segments and smaller newsletter features.

• Collaborate with the Editor, News, to produce the newsletter on a daily basis.

• Work in partnership with Daily Skimm staff, other newsletter divisions, and the web team to brainstorm and create captivating content.

• Oversee the newsletter production workflow from concept to final upload.

• Leverage data and audience insights to enhance content formats and pinpoint opportunities for current or new products.

• Coordinate with Social and Multimedia teams as necessary to provide a smooth and engaging email experience.

• Prepare pre-written editions for holiday newsletters.

• Report on topics including politics, work, care, health, sports, technology, finance, and pop culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Over 4 years of experience in digital writing and production.

• Demonstrated initiative and strong work ethic.

• A self-motivated individual who is passionate about content and attuned to discussions among women both online and offline.

• A genuine interest in news and a talent for clarifying complex stories.

• Proficient in writing about current events with clarity and distinct voice under tight deadlines.

• Keen news judgment and the ability to curate a newsletter tailored for the target audience.

• Proven experience utilizing audience and performance metrics to guide editorial strategy.

• Strong interest in and understanding of news, health, finance, technology, sports, work, care, and culture.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, especially regarding time management, scheduling, and project oversight.

• Passionate about theSkimm and its mission.

• Openness to work a non-traditional schedule, specifically from Sunday to Thursday and during unconventional hours.

• Willingness to cover shifts for other Daily Skimm team members as required.
