Work and Family Life Specialist

📋 Description

• Offer individualized consultation, education, training, and information and referral services that support the Work and Family Life Program of the Fleet and Family Support Program.

• Facilitate both in-person and virtual workshops for service members and their families.

• Conduct one-on-one consultations across various areas of the Work and Family Life Program.

• Provide location-specific information and referral services either in person or virtually.

• Assist with disaster preparedness and respond to crisis situations globally.

• Support Navy shipboard events and assist with Return and Reunions while on ships.

• Enter data regarding information and referral, consultation, and group education services into the government’s system of record.

• Utilize collaboration platforms, video conferencing software, and project management tools for effective stakeholder communication and virtual service delivery.

• Carry out basic technology troubleshooting tasks.

• Cross-train and assist in additional program areas as required.

• Aid in marketing and outreach initiatives.

• Work collaboratively with FFSP stakeholders to plan, schedule, and implement training services.

• Travel up to 50% for specified durations, potentially for periods of up to six months, to provide in-person support globally and aboard Navy ships.

• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

• This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside in Italy or Spain.

• Must possess existing Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) status or have the ability to independently obtain SOFA status.

• Bachelor’s degree in a social science or related behavioral science field, or a comparable combination of education and experience in social sciences, or four years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience in delivering presentations and facilitating training for both large and small groups, in-person and via online platforms.

• Proficient in using digital technology to conduct virtual training sessions.

• General knowledge of FFSP programs with experience in one or more program areas: Deployment and Mobilization Support, Ombudsman Training and Support, Relocation Assistance, Life Skills Education, Transition Assistance, or Family Employment Readiness.

• Strong technical skills with tools that support virtual service delivery, communication, and collaboration, including Outlook, Teams, and specialized databases.

• Ability to set up personal computers and AV equipment at various travel locations.

• Familiarity with needs assessment tools, such as surveys.

• Understanding of military life and the challenges it presents.

• Insight into social services and/or community resources.

• Knowledge of adult education principles and the development of training curricula based on adult learning models.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to prepare management reports.

• Must meet naval shipboard requirements, including physical qualifications for navigating onboard.

• Capable of meeting health screening requirements, including medical and dental, for travel to remote areas.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• A valid driver's license, passport, transportation, and auto insurance are required.

• Must have a quiet workspace with a stable internet connection when not traveling.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Must be able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds for extended periods.

• Physical capability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.
