Work and Family Life Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Facilitate both in-person and virtual workshops across various Work and Family Life Program areas.

• Offer personalized consultations for service members and their families.

• Deliver location-specific information and referral services, either in person or virtually.

• Provide support for disaster preparedness and crisis-event responses on a global scale.

• Assist on Navy ships during shipboard events and at Return and Reunions.

• Record information regarding referrals, consultations, and group education services in the government’s system of record.

• Utilize collaboration platforms, video conferencing tools, project management software, and other technologies for effective communication and virtual service delivery.

• Perform basic troubleshooting in case of technological issues.

• Cross-train and provide support in additional program areas as required.

• Aid in marketing and outreach efforts to promote program services.

• Work alongside FFSP stakeholders to plan, schedule, and deliver training services.

• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in social science or a related behavioral science field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or a minimum of four years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience in delivering presentations and facilitating training sessions for both large and small groups, both in-person and online.

• Familiarity with utilizing digital technology to conduct virtual training sessions.

• General understanding of FFSP programs and experience in one or more specific program areas, including Deployment and Mobilization Support, Ombudsman Training and Support, Relocation Assistance, Life Skills Education, Transition Assistance, and Family Employment Readiness.

• Strong technical skills in collaboration tools, communication, video conferencing, project management, custom databases, Outlook, and Teams.

• Capability to set up personal computers and audiovisual equipment while traveling.

• Knowledge of needs assessment tools, such as surveys.

• Understanding of military life and the challenges it presents.

• Awareness of social services and community resources.

• Familiarity with adult education principles and the development of training curricula based on the adult learning model.

• Experience in managing multiple priorities effectively.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of preparing management reports.

• Ability to meet naval shipboard requirements, including the physical capacity to navigate onboard.

• Must be able to fulfill health screening requirements, including medical and dental, for travel to remote locations.

• U.S. Citizenship, a valid driver’s license, passport, transportation, and auto insurance are mandatory.

• A quiet workspace with a stable internet connection is required when not traveling.

• The ability to carry and transport up to 25 pounds for extended periods may be necessary.
