This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design and tailor WordPress themes, website layouts, templates, and styles utilizing HTML, CSS, PHP, and adhering to WordPress best practices.

• Create custom WordPress plugins, extensions, and features when pre-existing solutions do not fulfill project needs.

• Oversee user-facing website functionality and back-end elements, encompassing server-side logic and database interactions.

• Enhance page loading times, Core Web Vitals, website performance, and overall user experience for both desktop and mobile users.

• Apply technical and on-page SEO best practices to boost website structure, crawlability, performance, and visibility in search engines.

• Ensure full responsiveness of websites across mobile, tablet, and desktop platforms.

• Conduct security assessments and audits, manage updates for WordPress core, themes, and plugins, and adhere to security best practices.

• Identify and fix website errors, plugin conflicts, dysfunctional features, performance challenges, and other technical issues.

• Execute regular website and database backups and assist in restoration or recovery as needed.

• Test websites and new features prior to deployment to guarantee reliability, compatibility, and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in WordPress development.

• Strong expertise in WordPress, PHP, HTML5, and CSS3.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and customizing WordPress themes.

• Proficiency in building or modifying custom WordPress plugins.

• In-depth knowledge of both front-end and back-end web development.

• Experience with WordPress databases and server-side functionalities.

• Familiarity with responsive and mobile-first development techniques.

• Hands-on experience in optimizing website speed and performance.

• Understanding of technical SEO and principles of SEO-friendly web development.

• Awareness of WordPress security best practices, including updates, backups, and ongoing maintenance.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to work independently in a remote setting and effectively manage development tasks.
