Wind Turbine Traveling Blade Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +24 more states.

📋 Description

• Travel extensively on a rotational basis to wind farms across the U.S., utilizing both air and truck for cross-country journeys.

• Conduct composite blade repairs uptower using platforms and rope access, as well as on the ground when necessary.

• Execute epoxy and polyester resin wet layup procedures.

• Carry out vacuum infusion processes.

• Repair balsa and foam sandwich materials effectively.

• Complete structural repairs as required.

• Prepare detailed Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QAQC reports.

• Perform onsite stock assessments.

• Assist the site lead and project coordinator when applicable.

• Support the maintenance of wind turbine rotor blades to ensure their profile, structural integrity, and efficiency in electricity generation.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in composite repair.

• Experience with platform and/or rope access is essential.

• Familiarity with epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up techniques, and vacuum bag methods.

• Knowledge of balsa and foam core materials is required.

• Understanding of fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair techniques.

• Ability to safely and effectively utilize powered hand tools.

• Awareness of temperature and humidity limitations in specifications.

• Capability to interpret complex technical drawings and processes.

• Proficient in IT skills, including email, internet usage, and iPad operation.

• Willingness to spend time away from home while in the field.

• Flexibility to adapt to changes in project scope.

• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow guidance.

• Possession of a valid, current driver's license.

• Must be at least 21 years old to operate a company vehicle.

• Ability to meet demanding physical requirements, including climbing ladders multiple times daily up to 300 feet/90 meters, as well as bending, crawling, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

• Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or have legal authorization to work in either country.

• Willingness to travel 100% on an 8/1 rotation throughout the year.

• Ability to frequently travel by commercial airline to project sites across North America.

• Capability to meet physical demands such as climbing wind turbines up to 125m+/400+ feet, standing, walking, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, crawling, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending, gripping, and repetitive manual tool usage.

• Comfort working at heights of up to 400 feet, with no fear of heights.
