This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Perform biological compliance monitoring during ongoing construction projects.
• Conduct surveys for wildlife species of special concern and nesting birds.
• Create technical reports that document the findings from surveys and monitoring activities.
• Develop biological technical reports and prepare permit application packages as necessary.
• Foster strong relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction teams.
• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines.
• Provide support for California surface transportation initiatives and transportation clients.
• Work part-time on an as-needed basis.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field in environmental science.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring in California.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Capability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
• Willingness to travel independently.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California.
• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Ability to identify plant species in Central Coast California.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Capacity to handle multiple priorities in a high-paced environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience with aquatic resources delineation is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in transportation projects is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with California Coastal Commission justification and ESHA analysis is preferred but not mandatory.
