Open Science Professional – Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Create and co-develop training materials, guidelines, and implementation resources for Open Science.

• Suggest improvements to knowledge management systems and tools that enhance Open Science practices.

• Design and advise on Open Science workflows that promote research transparency, reproducibility, and compliance.

• Collaborate directly with CDC researchers to incorporate Open Science principles into research workflows.

• Connect with CDC Centers, Institutes, and Offices to deliver Open Science outreach, training, and research assistance.

• Offer reference and research support to researchers looking for guidance on the implementation of Open Science.

• Work alongside CDC scientific leadership and CIO staff to apply Open Science practices.

• Engage, as appropriate, in CDC and federal Open Science committees and working groups.

• Modify activities and deliverables as CDC Open Science policies, practices, and implementation priorities change.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; 6 years with an MS/MA; or 3 years with a PhD.

• Comprehensive understanding of Open Science policies, guidelines, and practices, including U.S. Public Access policies, the Gold Standard Science memorandum, and Open Data policy and law.

• Proficient in Open Science tools such as DMPTool, Open Science Framework (OSF), GitHub, repository platforms, and data documentation tools.

• Exceptional communication, training, and documentation abilities.

• In-depth knowledge of the Persistent Identifier (PID) landscape.

• Experience utilizing one or more PID assignment interfaces.

• Proven capacity to cooperate in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Green Card Holder.

• Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining the necessary agency clearance.
