
Wide Format Service Technician – Traveling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Deliver both phone and onsite technical assistance to clients.
• Conduct diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, software upgrades, machine modifications, retrofits, and preventative maintenance on production printing equipment.
• Execute equipment installations, deinstallations, relocations, and training for customer operators.
• Follow up with customers post-installation to ensure their expectations are fulfilled and that the equipment is functioning correctly.
• Oversee and organize upcoming installations, including verifying site readiness requirements such as power availability, forklift scheduling, and RIP software compatibility.
• Fulfill service calls in accordance with company standards and service agreements.
• Assist clients with equipment-related inquiries and offer guidance on color management and production workflows.
• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of Onyx software and RIP systems to support customer print production settings.
• Grasp how RIP software governs print production and aid customers with general operational inquiries.
• Engage in continuous training programs to stay up-to-date on products, software, and service protocols.
• Support sales teams by pinpointing equipment upgrade possibilities and aiding in technical assessments.
• Maintain precise service records and documentation.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, customer-centered environment.
• A minimum of 2–6 years of relevant field service experience.
• Experience in servicing and repairing wide format equipment and associated technology.
• Strong preference for experience with Canon wide format printing equipment.
• Preferred working knowledge of Onyx software and production RIP workflows.
• Strong understanding of computer systems and networking.
• Exceptional customer service and communication abilities.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Solid working knowledge of Windows operating systems and related applications.
• Highly self-motivated with the capacity to work independently from a home office.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, mainly across the Central and Eastern United States.
• Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
