Web Developer, Website Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, enhance, support, and maintain WEA and related websites within the Squarespace platform.

• Construct and modify webpages, landing pages, resource libraries, news and blog sections, program pages, and various other digital content.

• Establish and uphold organized content structures.

• Apply custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as necessary.

• Diagnose and resolve broken links, layout inconsistencies, forms, integrations, navigation issues, and other website functionalities.

• Ensure the websites operate seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

• Identify solutions and alternatives for Squarespace's limitations.

• Provide support for third-party tools, forms, embeds, and integrations.

• Enhance website usability, navigation, information architecture, and user experience.

• Employ responsive web design principles and maintain consistency across digital platforms.

• Implement SEO, AEO, metadata, internal linking, image optimization, redirects, XML sitemaps, and structured data/schema markup.

• Monitor website performance and traffic using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Squarespace Analytics, and similar platforms.

• Identify performance, usability, and discoverability challenges and recommend enhancements.

• Optimize page structure and media for improved page speed and performance.

• Support accessibility, privacy, cookie management, form handling, tracking, and website security practices.

• Coordinate with Squarespace or other technology vendors as required.

• Assist with email newsletters, digital campaigns, website-to-email integrations, subscription forms, and audience capture initiatives.

• Collaborate with marketing, communications, design, IT, leadership, and program teams.

• Translate stakeholder requests into effective web solutions.

• Manage multiple web requests and projects while communicating timelines and dependencies.

• Independently prioritize workflow and tasks to meet deliverables and deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing professional websites.

• Strong practical experience with Squarespace, including page development, content management, styling, responsive design, platform settings, and third-party integrations.

• Understanding of the customization capabilities and limitations within Squarespace.

• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.

• Familiarity with JavaScript for customization and troubleshooting purposes.

• Solid grasp of responsive web design and optimization for desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.

• Knowledge of SEO fundamentals and modern website discoverability best practices.

• Comprehension of website structure, navigation, information architecture, usability, and general web design principles.

• Familiarity with web analytics platforms and the ability to analyze traffic and user behavior data.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Exceptional project management and organizational skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished work.

• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Portfolio showcasing relevant website development and maintenance projects.

• Professional references related to web development experience.

• Contractor provides their own equipment, software, and tools.

• Preferred qualifications include experience with various content management systems, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, structured data/schema markup and JSON-LD, accessibility standards and WCAG best practices, AEO and AI search discoverability, email marketing platforms, graphic or digital design tools, and mission-driven organizations.
