WASH Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Facilitate online courses and conduct in-person training across various cultural contexts and geographic regions, with a special emphasis on solar-powered water systems.

• Tailor training content and delivery to address the specific gaps, challenges, and needs of each target audience and region.

• Provide subject matter expertise for capacity development programs, training curricula, technical assistance methods, and training-of-trainers models.

• Engage with partners and course participants post-training to reinforce skills, offer technical guidance, and support ongoing learning.

• Supervise, train, and mentor consultants involved in project execution.

• Advise and mentor water-sector partners, including NGOs, governmental bodies, and utilities, on the design, maintenance, and monitoring of water systems.

• Offer specialized advice on utility performance, asset management, non-revenue water, energy optimization, electromechanical design, remote monitoring, water quality, volumetric water benefit accounting, water stewardship, and groundwater resource management.

• Evaluate partner needs and customize technical support to address organizational challenges and capacity.

• Facilitate long-term technical capacity development through training, consulting, and mentorship.

• Stay updated on best practices and emerging technologies in both solar-powered and conventional water systems.

• Establish and nurture relationships with partners.

• Identify and pursue opportunities to expand and enhance GWC’s learning and technical services.

• Represent GWC to partners, training participants, and other external stakeholders.

• Manage multiple projects within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.

• Communicate effectively with partner organizations and team members across different countries and time zones.

• Exemplify GWC’s values of love, excellence, and integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related technical field.

• A solid technical foundation in water systems.

• Exceptional facilitation, mentoring, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Proven experience in facilitating training and providing mentoring, ideally in cross-cultural or international contexts.

• At least 5 years of engineering experience.

• Preferably 2+ years of experience working in low- and middle-income countries.

• At least 2+ years of experience with solar-powered water systems is preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in training delivery.

• Experience in both in-person and online training delivery is advantageous.

• Previous experience in developing or contributing to technical training development is preferred.

• Proficiency in office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Strong fluency in AI and the ability to incorporate AI tools into technical and administrative workflows.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge in various subject areas.

• Willingness and capability to travel internationally.

• Flexibility and willingness to work outside regular office hours across multiple time zones.

• Fluency in both written and spoken English and French.

• Strong skills in relationship-building, analysis, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, initiative, and independent work.

• Ability to safely lift at least 35 pounds.

• Capacity to sit for extended periods and perform standing, walking, typing, carrying, kneeling, bending, and navigating stairs.

• Ability to work mainly indoors with occasional outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.

• Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
