This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the upstream commercial aspects of Odeko's supply chain, including purchasing decisions, supplier selection, and contract terms.
• Report directly to the Chief Supply Chain Officer.
• Manage gross margin and landed cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Take ownership of the supplier base from start to finish, encompassing selection, consolidation, tiering, performance evaluation, and business decisions.
• Lead negotiations related to pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, rebates, and payment conditions.
• Manage Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) and create the negotiated terms sheet for the Purchasing department.
• Collaborate with Legal to enhance standard supplier contracts and terms.
• Drive improvements in gross margin and landed COGS, ensuring that savings are reflected in the profit and loss statement.
• Handle responses to supplier price increases.
• Collaborate with revenue teams to shape catalog assortment and category strategy.
• Manage private-label initiatives from category selection through supplier development, margin structuring, and penetration targets.
• Build and lead Odeko's category management team.
• Define categories, recruit leaders, establish success metrics, and implement a review process for categories.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or merchandising.
• At least 5 years of experience in leadership roles, preferably in distribution, foodservice, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or similar industries where cost of goods is a primary margin driver.
• Managed annual expenditures exceeding $250 million, with savings impacting the profit and loss statement.
• Personally led negotiations for individual contracts valued at over $10 million annually.
• Experience in contract development and supplier terms management.
• Managed a category portfolio exposed to commodity fluctuations.
• Made assortment decisions and established new categories.
• Implemented AI or advanced analytics solutions to address sourcing challenges.
• Capability to communicate the commercial supply narrative to the executive team and collaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, and Finance departments.
• A Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred; an MBA is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 20% or more, including for trade shows, supplier visits, and oversight of co-packers for private label products.
