VP Program Manager – Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily PMO operations for a substantial data center campus

• Manage simultaneous construction, infrastructure enhancements, and facility expansion projects

• Create and uphold PMO frameworks, standards, governance structures, and reporting schedules

• Liaise with clients, contractors, design teams, MEP specialists, and critical systems vendors

• Administer master program schedules, interdependencies, and resource distribution

• Supervise projects related to power distribution, cooling systems, backup generators, fire suppression, and network infrastructure

• Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute Tier classifications, ASHRAE standards, and client technical specifications

• Coordinate commissioning, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness

• Manage relationships with contractors, equipment vendors, and critical infrastructure providers

• Act as the primary interface for clients, conducting program reviews and status presentations

• Oversee capacity planning, phased delivery schedules, and operational transition strategies

• Manage budgets amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars, along with cost tracking, change orders, and financial accountability

• Identify and address risks related to supply chain, long-lead equipment, and operational continuity

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and data center operational standards

• Lead and mentor project managers, coordinators, and technical specialists

• Implement process improvements and develop methodologies for data center project management

• Assist in business development, client relationship management, and proposal creation

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline

• Over 12 years of program/project management experience with substantial involvement in data center or mission-critical facility projects

• Demonstrated experience leading PMO operations for large-scale capital programs (portfolios exceeding $100M)

• Comprehensive understanding of data center infrastructure, including UPS, generators, switchgear, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, and associated MEP systems

• Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships

• Familiarity with commissioning processes, integrated systems testing, and operational handover for critical facilities

• Extensive background in supervising, developing, and mentoring technical project teams

• Capability to handle multiple concurrent high-priority initiatives

• Strong financial acumen, including budget management, cost forecasting, and value engineering

• Proficient in presenting complex technical information to varied audiences

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

• Preferred: advanced degree; PMP, CCM, or other project management certification; LEED AP or data center-specific certification; experience with hyperscale or colocation; modular/prefabricated data center delivery experience; proficiency with Smartsheet, Procore, P6, MS Project, and data analytics tools; Six Sigma or Lean certification; experience with technology, cloud services, or telecommunications clients; proven track record in business development and client portfolio growth
