VP of Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and expand a software engineering organization responsible for delivery, quality, security, reliability, and operational results.

• Define the operational framework for outcome-based ownership, encompassing intake, prioritization, and delivery cadence.

• Build the team through recruitment, training, retention, and skill enhancement.

• Establish engineering metrics and executive reporting for velocity, quality, AI integration, and business impact.

• Oversee Nooks' AI strategy across delivered products and company operations.

• Promote measurable AI integration across internal functions.

• Revamp institutional knowledge capture, organization, and retrieval.

• Manage AI governance for the software portfolio, including data management, model utilization, and assessment.

• Ensure delivery against awarded software contracts, covering scope, schedule, technical quality, customer trust, cost, staffing, and utilization.

• Represent Nooks engineering and AI capabilities to government clients.

• Support software initiatives by shaping technical strategies, staffing models, cost inputs, and past-performance documentation.

• Define technology strategy and architecture roadmap, including systems deployed within customer environments.

• Oversee the internal platform utilized by site teams, Operations, and internal functions.

• Make decisions on build-versus-buy and manage commercial system integrations.

• Develop business cases for engineering investments and manage the portfolio.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with the CEO, Growth, Operations, site teams, IT/Cyber, Product, Finance, government clients, vendors, and partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with progressive leadership roles, including ownership of a complete engineering or software product function.

• Proven experience leading software delivery to the US Government, with direct exposure to federal clients and associated constraints.

• Strong understanding of modern AI practices, including large language models (LLMs), agentic frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), orchestration, and AI governance.

• Experience managing delivery economics, including cost, staffing, and utilization against a fixed commitment, as well as developing the business case for technology investment.

• Proven track record in building and leading an engineering organization, including operational models, recruitment, and the transition to outcome-based delivery.

• Demonstrable experience managing relationships with customers and cross-functional teams at the executive level.

• Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States.
