Engineering Manager, Consumer Credit Cards

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the engineering team focused on Consumer Credit Cards Marketplaces, consisting of 3–4 engineers.

• Take ownership of the technical direction and outcomes related to personnel for high-traffic web shopping experiences.

• Drive architectural design, technical decision-making, planning, and key milestones.

• Fulfill the product backlog and contribute to the roadmap aimed at engineering excellence.

• Establish architectural direction while ensuring quality in delivery.

• Develop and enhance the team’s AI developer harness.

• Coordinate agentic automations throughout the software lifecycle, from specification to review and deployment.

• Cultivate engineers' skills relevant to the AI era, including prompting, spec-writing, and evaluating AI-generated code and designs.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, provide constructive feedback, establish growth plans, and manage performance evaluations.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership on initiatives related to performance, observability, scalability, security, and developer experience.

• Aid in maintaining platform stability and resilience through monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident management.

• Uphold technical excellence, code quality, modernization efforts, and the adoption of AI tools.

• Work alongside SEO strategists, Paid Marketers, Product teams, Business Development, Data & Analytics, and various other stakeholders.

• Report directly to the Head of Engineering for Consumer Banking, Credit Cards & New Markets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years in software engineering with a solid foundation as a hands-on Technical Lead.

• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Node.js, along with experience in other modern programming languages.

• Strong background with Next.js and React.js frameworks.

• Knowledge of web performance, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO principles.

• Experience in architecting and developing back-end APIs and microservices.

• Emphasis on scalability, performance optimization, and data integrity.

• In-depth understanding of SQL and NoSQL database systems.

• Experience in processing high-volume data efficiently.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Awareness of security and compliance best practices, particularly in the financial services sector.

• Experience with observability and managing production applications, especially in marketplace environments, at scale.

• Practical experience with AI development tools and advanced AI-enabled workflows, including development harnesses, agentic automations/workflows, and specification-driven development.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.

• Preferred experience integrating Machine Learning systems, personalization pipelines, and data-driven experimentation.

• Domain expertise in finance and shopping marketplaces is a plus.

• Understanding of best practices in accessibility and usability/user experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with paid and organic search strategies is a plus.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
