Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

• Lead a high-performing engineering team dedicated to building and supporting Career Edge

• Take ownership of delivery for a specific product or platform area

• Manage engineers directly while fostering their professional development

• Guide cross-functional engineering teams effectively

• Oversee sprint planning, execution, delivery quality, and risk management

• Transform roadmap priorities into actionable plans alongside Product and Design

• Eliminate blockers and enhance operating rhythm within a distributed environment

• Promote visibility, predictability, and accountability for committed work

• Establish and refine Scrum/Agile ceremonies and practices

• Maintain a well-groomed, estimated, and prioritized backlog

• Monitor velocity, throughput, cycle time, and DORA metrics to enhance delivery

• Uphold standards for testing, code review, documentation, and definitions of ready/done

• Conduct blameless retrospectives and ensure follow-up on action items

• Adapt processes for a distributed night-shift team utilizing async-first communication

• Provide technical leadership across the modern web stack and cloud infrastructure

• Evaluate designs, architecture proposals, and critical code paths

• Enhance CI/CD, observability, testing, code review, and incident response

• Advocate for responsible AI adoption throughout the software development lifecycle

• Assess and implement AI tooling such as Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, agentic workflows, and MCP integrations

• Manage, coach, and develop engineers through one-on-one sessions, feedback, and growth plans

• Facilitate performance management, hiring, onboarding, and retention

• Mentor senior engineers and emerging technical leaders

• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, business teams, and U.S.-based stakeholders

• Convey tradeoffs, risks, and delivery status to both technical and non-technical partners

⛳️ Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering

• 2–4+ years of experience leading teams as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or similar role

• Proven track record of delivering production software in a SaaS, web platform, or product-led environment

• Experience collaborating with distributed or remote teams

• Demonstrated expertise in implementing or enhancing Scrum/Agile practices

• Strong full-stack engineering foundation within the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem

• Hands-on experience with Node.js, React/Next.js, and designing and consuming APIs

• Experience managing production workloads on a major cloud platform; AWS is preferred

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary software delivery workflows

• Solid understanding of maintainable architecture, delivery tradeoffs, and engineering quality

• Nice to have: Nest.js; MongoDB and/or MySQL at production scale; Docker and containerized deployment; broader DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices

• Strong communication and coaching skills

• Ability to balance speed, quality, and business priorities

• Capacity to dive deep technically without becoming a bottleneck

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

• Genuine interest in and practical experience experimenting with AI tooling

• Successful completion of a background check, including criminal, prior employment, and education verification
