VP of Research and Design

📋 Description

• Take ownership of product design for both consumer and business offerings, including aspects like acquisition, conversion, customer experience, retention, core systems, Airalo One, reseller experience, corporate experience, and partner onboarding.

• Establish the product design strategy and set long-term priorities along with necessary trade-offs.

• Oversee product design, research, and the product design guild as a unified entity.

• Manage how the brand is represented within the product in collaboration with the Marketing team.

• Develop and uphold quality standards, which encompass design systems, accessibility, and product language.

• Implement brand evolution within the product through the flagship connectivity launch.

• Enhance the mobile app with native iOS and Android micro-animations, haptics, and interaction patterns.

• Identify the requirements for the design system and accessibility standards.

• Define the collaborative boundaries between design and product management.

• Transition research efforts towards formulating strategic questions that influence the product roadmap.

• Construct the design and research career framework.

• Outline team structure and recruit new team members.

• Report directly to the Chief Product Officer, working alongside the leaders of Consumer Product and B2B Product.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading design for a large-scale business, taking responsibility for an entire product rather than just a segment.

• Depth of experience in consumer products; having a background in managing a business or professional product is a significant advantage.

• Experience in leading or collaborating closely with research and recognizing its strategic role beyond mere validation.

• Proficiency in drafting and gaining acceptance for a design strategy.

• Active participation in design activities with strong judgment regarding product interfaces.

• Experience in developing designers into leadership roles and leaders into managerial positions.

• Capability to articulate the business case for design effectively.

• Skill in creating scalable design systems while understanding their associated maintenance costs.

• Comfortable communicating in English during meetings and through asynchronous channels.
