VP of Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Direct the accounting, reporting, and financial operations for a private equity firm specializing in real estate.

• Supervise accounting for both GP and LP entities, including the consolidation process under ASC 810.

• Oversee capital calls, distributions, waterfalls, and calculations related to carried interest.

• Generate monthly financial statements, partner capital statements, and investor reports.

• Coordinate annual audits and tax returns with external auditing and tax firms.

• Manage job costing, construction draw packages, and reconciliation of development budgets.

• Handle commitment accounting for long-term construction contracts and approve contractor payment applications.

• Establish controls for change orders, retainage, and lien waivers.

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash flow forecasting, and the corporate general ledger.

• Manage development management fee billing as well as intercompany billing reconciliation and elimination.

• Lead the annual budgeting process and long-range planning across corporate, fund, and project entities.

• Create forecasting models, including rolling 13-week cash flow, multi-year P&L, balance sheet, and liquidity/runway projections.

• Conduct monthly and quarterly re-forecast cycles and provide budget-versus-actual variance analysis.

• Develop underwriting and investment models for acquisitions and development opportunities.

• Model capital structure and financing decisions while assessing their impact on project and fund returns.

• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and management dashboards.

• Present financial outcomes and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and investors.

• Assist with investor reporting packages, capital account statements, and due diligence materials.

• Implement and enhance Intuit Enterprise Suite, bill.com, internal controls, and closing procedures.

• Monitor covenants, reporting deadlines, and lender deliverables.

• Develop the FP&A function progressively, including recruiting and mentoring analysts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• 5–10+ years of progressive experience in accounting within private equity, real estate development, or REIT/multifamily sectors.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly ASC 810, 323, 360, 970, 842, and principles of fund accounting.

• Experience in construction accounting, cost segregation concepts, and investment accounting.

• Practical experience with multi-entity structures, joint ventures, waterfalls, and investor allocations.

• Proven FP&A leadership experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling for a multi-entity organization.

• Expert-level financial modeling capabilities.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Strong skills in data analytics and database management.

• Exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

• Superior verbal and written communication skills in English.
