VP of Final Mile Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic direction and operational management for warehouse, transportation, and delivery functions across the network

• Take ownership of service performance in all markets, ensuring on-time delivery, completion rates, damage-free delivery, and customer satisfaction

• Establish and uphold service, quality, and performance benchmarks throughout all markets

• Conduct operating reviews and manage performance evaluation processes

• Identify and address service failures, customer grievances, claims, and performance challenges

• Lead initiatives aimed at minimizing damages, claims, delivery exceptions, and customer escalations

• Oversee KPI reporting, trend analysis, and operational transparency

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance controls, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory, client, and company standards

• Manage operating P&L, which includes revenue, direct costs, contribution margin, and performance against the annual budget

• Collaborate with Finance on forecasting, budgeting, financial performance oversight, and profitability analysis

• Drive profitable growth while seeking opportunities to enhance profitability

• Ensure availability of qualified delivery capacity, peak-season planning, and contingency measures across markets

• Collaborate with Fleet Support Services on contractor recruitment, onboarding, compliance, settlements, compensation, incentives, retention, and engagement

• Spearhead the continuous improvement strategy and foster a culture of operational excellence

• Assess, implement, and promote the adoption of operational tools, systems, and technologies

• Act as the senior operational contact and escalation authority for key clients

• Facilitate client business reviews and strategic operational conversations

• Support customer retention, new implementations, operational expansions, and growth initiatives

• Build and nurture high-performing leaders and teams

• Enhance organizational capability through succession planning, talent development, employee engagement, and change leadership

• Foster cross-functional alignment to achieve operational excellence, customer success, and business performance

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent operational leadership experience

• A minimum of ten years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or similar operational fields

• Proven experience with multi-site operations, geographically distributed teams, and P&L responsibility

• Experience leading operations supported by independent contractor delivery networks is essential

• Final mile or home delivery experience is highly preferred

• Experience in large and bulky delivery environments is strongly preferred

• Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous improvement certification is preferred

• Experience launching new markets, facilities, major customer initiatives, or operations supporting national retailer scorecard programs is preferred

• Strong operational leadership in complex, geographically diverse environments is required

• Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of operational performance drivers

• Ability to utilize KPIs and data analytics to drive business outcomes

• Familiarity with transportation, warehouse, routing, dispatch, and performance management technologies

• Experience leading continuous improvement efforts

• Ability to cultivate high-performing leaders and teams

• Knowledge of contractor network operations and compliance regulations

• Strong customer focus and relationship management abilities

• Capability to lead change and cultivate cross-functional collaborations

• Commitment to safety, quality, service excellence, and profitability

• Willingness to travel regularly as necessary to support field operations

• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
