This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Assist employees who are unable to work due to disability, illness, or injury.
• Encourage optimal vocational functioning on either a permanent or temporary basis.
• Evaluate functional abilities and vocational data to identify alternative work options and assess employability.
• Conduct interviews with employees for the purpose of vocational assessments.
• Execute thorough file reviews, vocational assessments, and transferable skills analyses utilizing vocational software and the Dictionary of Occupational Titles.
• Identify alternative occupations that align with claimants’ skills, aptitudes, and both physical and mental capabilities.
• Conduct triage reviews to explore return-to-work opportunities.
• Co-manage return-to-work claims in accordance with employer business needs.
• Liaise with healthcare providers and employers to facilitate transitional work release and secure necessary accommodations.
• Document activities, transferable skills, alternative occupations, work expectations, return-to-work challenges, and any accommodations or modifications.
• Coordinate external vocational services, which include ergonomic assessments, career exploration, job development, and placement.
• Collaborate with vendors and state vocational rehabilitation agencies.
• Consult with claims teams and management regarding file direction and perform three-point contact as required.
• Participate in sales presentations or client implementations as necessary.
• Arrange referrals for physical, psychological, neuropsychological, academic, and vocational evaluations and standardized testing.
• Identify employment barriers and formulate strategies and transitional return-to-work plans.
• Organize and maintain personal, vocational, eligibility, and medical records, correspondence, service documentation, and employee contacts.
• M.A./M.S./M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling from a Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredited program.
• Current certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC).
• A minimum of three years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, disability claims, insurance industry practices, as well as Social Security Disability and ADA laws.
• Proficient in various TSA and LMS-based programs.
• Capability to create tailored individualized rehabilitation programs for LTD claimants.
• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds.
• Competence to perform sedentary work that involves sitting, walking, or standing.
• Willingness to travel for client meetings.
• Outstanding communication, organizational, customer service, and analytical abilities.
• Effective multitasking skills and adaptability in managing tasks.
• Capacity to handle time-sensitive tasks efficiently and prioritize work independently.
• Capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment.
• Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
