Virtual School Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Provide proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groups.

• Address the needs of individuals and groups through responsive counseling and programming.

• Assess transfer student transcripts and communicate suitable course placements.

• Oversee and evaluate transcripts for active students and clarify credit award processes.

• Develop and uphold student graduation plans.

• Offer career readiness curriculum and facilitate the development of career plans.

• Implement Social-Emotional Learning curriculum.

• Establish and manage Student 504 plans.

• Examine student data to give insights on appropriate academic programs and interventions.

• Travel throughout Florida to assist with testing initiatives and school events as required.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

• Collaborate with staff and families to inform student-specific academic programming and deliver proactive and preventative services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bilingual strongly preferred.

• Valid State Counselor license required.

• Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year of prior experience in counseling and/or advisement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Familiarity with the ASCA model.

• Experience with K-12 online learning environments.

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and mandated reporting requirements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.

• Capacity to manage confidential information responsibly and maintain confidentiality.

• Ability to navigate challenging or emotional situations and make informed, evidence-based decisions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Ability to work autonomously while also contributing to a team.

• Must pass federal and state criminal background checks.
