Vice President, Operations

📋 Description

• Establish partnerships with physicians and define the growth strategy for the Division.

• Oversee clinical, financial, and operational performance for an operational portfolio valued at approximately $300M.

• Create a unified vision for the Division and ensure the necessary personnel and operational processes are established.

• Promote a culture that is focused on people, success, and accountability.

• Attract, recruit, retain, motivate, and lead the operations team effectively.

• Ensure strong governance at the board level and engage in board meetings and governance-related activities.

• Report on regulatory matters, updates within the ASC industry, lobbying efforts, and relevant developments in health systems, physician practice management, and private equity relationships.

• Guide people development, professional growth, and management strategies within the Division.

• Supervise Directors of Operations and offer strategic guidance for achieving operational excellence.

• Collaborate with the Senior Vice President to enhance relationships with regional partners and manage center operations.

• Mentor Directors of Operations and center leaders in cultivating provider relationships.

• Clearly communicate corporate initiatives and formulate implementation plans with Directors of Operations.

• Oversee and continually enhance quality, operational efficiency, cost management, risk management, regulatory compliance, teammate engagement and retention, provider engagement, and growth strategies.

• Develop and implement the Division's portfolio strategy.

• Maintain strong relationships with health system joint ventures, physician partnerships, and physician practice management MSOs.

• Collaborate with the Senior Vice President and business development leaders to formulate business planning and growth strategies.

• Identify new regional opportunities within communities and among payers.

• Take ownership of physician relationships and address their growth needs effectively.

• Support organic growth and strategic initiatives throughout the Division.

• Initiate projects to increase same-store and Division volume and revenue.

• Aid in the acquisition due diligence for new center opportunities.

• Lead Directors of Operations and center leaders in due diligence for business development.

• Represent the organization to key stakeholders and maintain robust partnerships with physicians.

• Promote the clinician value proposition and Patient-Centered Care.

• Manage regional physician, health system partnerships, and physician practice management operations.

• Advocate for and promote the adoption of strategic initiatives.

• Provide AMSURG advocacy updates to provider partners.

• Actively participate as a member of the Partnership Board of Directors.

• Be accountable for the financial performance of the Division portfolio.

• Offer strategic direction to optimize regional financial performance.

• Understand financial reporting and the geographical areas managed by assigned Directors of Operations.

• Present and communicate quarterly forecasts and budget models to AMSURG leadership.

• Assist the Senior Vice President with managed-care messaging.

• Review the entire Division portfolio and formulate the Division budget.

• Support operations leads with center-level budgeting.

• Manage and challenge portfolio and growth objectives.

• Report any suspected or actual compliance, policy, harassment, or prohibited activity violations.

• Lead junior operations leaders during times of crisis.

• Assess crises, utilize appropriate resources, and develop and communicate action plans.

• Conduct debriefs following crisis resolution to identify root causes.

• Implement strategies to mitigate identified root causes in the future.

• Demonstrated experience in a leadership position with a successful record of driving team performance and reaching organizational goals.

• Proven capability to identify and tackle opportunities or challenges without direct supervision.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with physicians, staff, and external clients.

• Strong management abilities and capacity to oversee complex projects and multiple priorities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Comfortable presenting to senior management, boards, community divisions, and physicians.

• Proven initiative and ability to drive projects to successful completion with minimal oversight.

• Aptitude for managing ambiguity within a highly matrixed organization.

• Growth-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.

• Willingness to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and adapt to changing circumstances.

• Availability to travel up to 60% of the time, with an average commitment of 40–60% travel.

• Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field, and/or equivalent professional experience.

• At least ten (10) years of experience in healthcare operations management.

• Extensive background in leading healthcare operations within a multi-state integrated healthcare delivery system.

• Direct P&L management experience for a healthcare operation with a minimum revenue of $100M.

• Required to read and adhere to the company’s code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook(s), policies and procedures, and corporate mandates.
