Vice President of Operations, Post-Acute Dialysis

📋 Description

• Provide executive leadership for all Post-Acute operations while establishing the strategy, priorities, standards, and operational cadence necessary to scale across multiple markets and states.

• Develop a leadership structure that supports clinically sound and financially sustainable operations across a minimum of five states.

• Create scalable systems, standardized workflows, management routines, escalation pathways, and decision-making rights.

• Oversee the daily operations of SNF dialysis programs through Area Managers.

• Ensure reliable, safe, efficient, and contract-compliant service delivery across designated facilities.

• Supervise staffing, scheduling, treatment completion, documentation, inventory, facility readiness, customer communication, physician coordination, and local financial performance.

• Establish and monitor operational scorecards that cover TUR, staffing productivity, labor variance, overtime, travel, missed treatments, census, referrals, quality outcomes, and customer issues.

• Address staffing shortages, scheduling failures, supply disruptions, equipment-related impacts, and other risks to service continuity.

• Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity, emergency operations, severe staffing constraints, and facility disruptions.

• Manage the full Post-Acute divisional P&L, gross profit, EBITDA, labor, travel, supplies, implementation costs, and operating expenses.

• Collaborate with Finance and the COO to develop the annual operating budget.

• Enhance productivity, utilization, reimbursement, cost control, and contribution margin.

• Engage in pricing model development and operational assumptions for both new and existing business.

• Partner with Finance, Admissions & Billing, and Revenue Cycle to improve documentation, authorization, claims support, denial resolution, collections, and revenue integrity.

• Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions for Coverage, state requirements, HIPAA, accreditation standards, company policies, and contractual obligations.

• Own the operational implementation of quality and compliance requirements along with corrective action plans.

• Review quality trends and ensure timely responses to adverse events, infection risks, missed treatments, documentation failures, medication issues, and survey findings.

• Ensure preparedness for surveys, required audits, and timely closure of identified gaps.

• Manage the implementation of new Post-Acute programs after contract execution, ensuring stabilized operations.

• Ensure that site assessments, feasibility reviews, construction and equipment readiness, staffing, credentialing, training, physician coverage, supplies, technology, billing setup, and regulatory requirements are completed prior to launch.

• Establish stabilization plans, census ramp plans, customer communication cadences, and post-launch performance reviews.

• Conduct post-implementation reviews to enhance future launch repeatability, speed, cost, and quality.

• Own executive operational relationships with Post-Acute customers following contract execution.

• Lead service recovery efforts and resolve customer concerns effectively.

• Conduct and enhance Quarterly Business Reviews.

• Identify expansion opportunities within existing health system or customer relationships.

• Cultivate relationships with nephrologists, Medical Directors, attending physicians, facility medical leadership, and the Chief Medical Officer.

• Address physician engagement, rounding, coverage, documentation, order, communication, and accountability issues.

• Directly lead, coach, develop, proactively hire, and evaluate Area Managers and support roles.

• Foster a culture of support, authority, resources, accountability, follow-through, communication, and problem ownership.

• Participate in the hiring and interviewing process for manager-level roles and oversee onboarding and first-90-days assessment.

• Collaborate with Market Development Managers to support referrals and maintain census.

• Collaborate with Biomedical Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, Clinical Quality & Compliance, Contracting, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, Clinical Education, Sales, and other divisions.

• Remain accountable for operational implementation, corrective actions, verification, and sustained closure.

• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

• Regularly travel to operating markets, customer locations, physician meetings, implementations, and leadership meetings.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, operations management, or a related field is required; equivalent executive healthcare operations experience may be considered.

• A Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Seven or more years of progressively responsible healthcare operations experience.

• Significant multi-site leadership experience with geographically dispersed teams.

• Proven success in building, scaling, or materially improving a multi-state or multi-market healthcare operation.

• Experience leading through managers, developing leaders, and creating sustainable operating systems.

• Ability to interpret quality, compliance, operational, customer, and financial data and translate findings into actionable plans.

• Experience with full P&L, budget management, labor, productivity, and financial performance analysis and tracking.

• Experience managing executive customer relationships, physician partnerships, clinical quality, regulatory risk, and cross-functional initiatives.

• Dialysis experience is preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience in post-acute, long-term care, home-based care, specialty clinical services, physician practice, hospital, or other regulated healthcare operations is preferred.

• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and satisfactorily communicating in English.

• Strong technical/computer skills with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.

• Ability to quickly learn various technical systems and equipment.

• Regular travel to operating markets, customer locations, physician meetings, implementations, and leadership meetings is required; 20–25% expected.

• Must be available to respond to urgent operational, quality, customer, staffing, or physician issues outside normal business hours when executive intervention is necessary.

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday and some weekends as needed based on travel and unit requirements.
