Vice President of Operations, Post-Acute Dialysis

📋 Description

• Provide strategic executive leadership for all Post-Acute operations, defining strategy, priorities, standards, and operational cadence across various markets and states.

• Develop a leadership framework that can support operations across a minimum of five states as the division expands.

• Create scalable systems, standardized workflows, management routines, escalation pathways, and decision-making authorities.

• Identify operational risks, limitations, and capability gaps, and put corrective measures in place.

• Supervise daily operations of SNF dialysis programs through Area Managers.

• Ensure reliable, safe, efficient, and contract-compliant service delivery across designated facilities.

• Maintain accountability for staffing, scheduling, treatment completion, documentation, inventory, facility readiness, customer communication, physician coordination, and local financial performance.

• Establish and track operational scorecards encompassing TUR, staffing productivity, labor variance, overtime, travel, missed treatments, census, referrals, quality outcomes, and customer issues.

• Direct the resolution of staffing shortages, scheduling failures, supply disruptions, equipment impacts, and risks to service continuity.

• Develop contingency strategies for business continuity, emergency operations, severe staffing shortages, and facility disruptions.

• Own the complete Post-Acute divisional P&L, including gross profit, EBITDA, labor, travel, supplies, implementation costs, and operational expenses.

• Collaborate with Finance to develop the annual operating budget.

• Assess profitability, identify financial leaks, and enhance productivity, utilization, reimbursement, cost control, and contribution margin.

• Engage in pricing model development and operational assumptions.

• Work with Finance, Admissions & Billing, and Revenue Cycle to enhance documentation, authorization, claims support, denials, collections, and revenue integrity.

• Collaborate with Clinical Quality & Compliance, the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, and clinical leaders on compliance with CMS, state regulations, HIPAA, accreditation, policies, and contracts.

• Assume responsibility for operational implementation of quality and compliance requirements and corrective action plans.

• Analyze quality trends and ensure timely responses to adverse events, infection risks, missed treatments, documentation failures, medication issues, and survey findings.

• Ensure readiness for surveys, required audits, and prompt closure of identified gaps.

• Oversee the implementation of new Post-Acute programs post-contract execution until operations are stabilized.

• Ensure all site assessments, feasibility reviews, construction and equipment readiness, staffing, credentialing, training, physician coverage, supplies, technology, billing setup, and regulatory requirements are met before launch.

• Establish stabilization plans, census ramp plans, customer communication cadences, and performance reviews following launch.

• Conduct post-implementation reviews to enhance future launch repeatability, speed, cost, and quality.

• Manage executive operational relationships with Post-Acute customers post-contract execution.

• Lead service recovery efforts and address customer concerns.

• Conduct and enhance Quarterly Business Reviews.

• Identify opportunities for expansion within existing health systems or customer relationships.

• Cultivate relationships with nephrologists, Medical Directors, attending physicians, facility medical leadership, and the Chief Medical Officer.

• Address issues related to physician engagement, rounding, coverage, documentation, orders, communication, and accountability.

• Directly lead, coach, develop, hire, and evaluate Area Managers and supporting roles.

• Foster a culture of accountability, support, authority, resource availability, communication, and ownership of problems.

• Participate in the hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and initial assessments of manager-level personnel.

• Collaborate with Market Development Managers on referrals and census management.

• Partner with Biomedical Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, Clinical Quality & Compliance, Contracting, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, Clinical Education, Sales, and other divisions.

• Remain accountable for operational implementation, corrective actions, verification, and sustainable closure.

• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, operations management, or a related field is required; equivalent executive healthcare operations experience may be accepted.

• A Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations.

• Significant leadership experience overseeing multi-site operations for geographically dispersed teams.

• Proven success in building, scaling, or significantly improving multi-state or multi-market healthcare operations.

• Experience in leading through managers, developing leaders, and creating sustainable operating systems.

• Ability to interpret quality, compliance, operational, customer, and financial data, translating findings into actionable plans.

• Experience with full P&L, budget management, labor, productivity, and financial performance analysis and monitoring.

• Proven track record in managing executive customer relationships, physician partnerships, clinical quality, regulatory risk, and cross-functional initiatives.

• Dialysis experience is preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience in post-acute, long-term care, home-based care, specialty clinical services, physician practice, hospitals, or other regulated healthcare operations is preferred.

• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and effectively communicating in English.

• Strong technical skills and proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and other related software.

• Ability to quickly learn various technical systems and equipment.

• Regular travel to operating markets, customer locations, physician meetings, implementations, and leadership meetings is required; 20–25% travel is expected.

• Must be able to respond to urgent operational, quality, customer, staffing, or physician issues outside of normal business hours when executive intervention is required.

• Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

• Availability to work from Monday to Friday, with some weekends based on travel and unit needs.
