This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing Security & IT organization across five distinct disciplines.
• Foster succession planning and enhance technical talent development.
• Design the IT and Security organization for current operations and near-term scaling.
• Manage the IT and Security budget, linking expenditures to risk mitigation.
• Cultivate a culture of transparency and accountability within two teams.
• Establish standards, service level agreements (SLAs), and operational runbooks.
• Represent both departments in leadership discussions, translating operational risks for executives.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, DevOps, People Ops, and Finance on onboarding, offboarding, SaaS implementations, migrations, and compliance efforts.
• Work alongside Sales on customer security assessments.
• Oversee end-to-end incident response: detection, triage, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident evaluations.
• Develop and refine detection mechanisms against adversary actions.
• Manage the on-call rotation, escalation processes, severity models, and incident runbooks.
• Provide honest assessments of security posture.
• Lead the Product Security program and integrate security throughout the development lifecycle.
• Oversee product vulnerability management and accountability for timely fixes.
• Identify product risks and provide actionable recommendations.
• Formulate and implement strategies for endpoints, identity, and SaaS at scale.
• Manage mobile device management (MDM), patch compliance, hardware lifecycle, zero-touch provisioning, and identity access management (IAM).
• Oversee the company’s AI, SaaS, and cloud technology ecosystem.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for ticket responsiveness, patch and MDM coverage, access reviews, and IT expenditures.
• Act as a senior Automox power user and provide feedback to Product and Engineering teams.
• Ensure continuous collection of SOC 2 evidence and operational controls.
• Manage the SOC 2 audit relationship.
• Maintain the risk register and vendor review processes.
• Over 8 years of experience in people management, including performance management, recruitment, and developing engineers into more skilled professionals.
• More than 12 years in security engineering or operations, with hands-on experience in detection engineering and incident response as a fundamental aspect of that time.
• Proven experience partnering with an engineering organization on product security, with demonstrable results.
• Direct responsibility for IT operations or a combined security and IT role.
• A history of converting strategy into actionable execution with quantifiable outcomes.
• Working knowledge of SOC 2 to maintain a healthy existing program.
• Experience in detection engineering across endpoints, identity, cloud, and SaaS telemetry, including designing SIEM or equivalent log pipelines.
• Practical understanding of adversary tactics and how they manifest in data.
• Fundamentals in application and cloud security.
• Familiarity with modern identity providers, MDM for macOS and Windows, collaboration suite administration, source control management, and cloud IAM.
• Practical experience with Linux.
• Basic knowledge of PowerShell, bash, and Python.
• Good judgment in evaluating AI-generated automation for accuracy and security.
• Sound decision-making on architectural and tooling trade-offs.
• Must successfully pass a federal, state, and county background check.
