This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Oversee the development of public policy, strategies for government relations, and initiatives for legislative enablement at BusPatrol.
β’ Manage proactive legislation and defensive bills aimed at safeguarding and expanding automated school bus stop-arm enforcement, Speed Zone Safety, and associated projects.
β’ Lead intricate political and advocacy strategies within complex political landscapes.
β’ Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to meet government relations and policy implementation needs.
β’ Supervise the internal government relations team effectively.
β’ Oversee external contract lobbyists and outside legal counsel.
β’ Identify and coordinate Business Development consultants to align government relations and business development efforts with political strategies.
β’ Formulate state-specific policy tactics and strategies in conjunction with the Growth, Legal, and Communications teams.
β’ Partner with U.S. municipalities and school districts to shape policies regarding traffic safety, automated enforcement, and smart city data platforms.
β’ Empower local champions and partners to engage effectively with state and local leaders.
β’ Advocate for violator-funded safety programs and establish legislative and regulatory frameworks for new deployments in targeted growth states.
β’ Travel and represent BusPatrol and its safety coalition through public speaking engagements.
β’ Provide testimony at legislative hearings, participate in workshops and conferences, and engage in media interviews.
β’ Support established coalitions and collaborate with the Gov Ops team on focused policy and legislative initiatives.
β’ A minimum of 10+ years of leadership experience.
β’ A blend of state and local government experience followed by roles in advocacy or government relations.
β’ Required experience in state lobbying; lobbying solely within a large municipality is inadequate.
β’ Demonstrated success in lobbying for multi-state legislation on contentious political matters.
β’ Proven leadership in a legislative enablement role, managing policy and government relations at an enterprise level.
β’ Experience as the primary leader of a policy or government relations function.
β’ In-depth understanding of the state and local legislative processes.
β’ Strong background in legislative defense, glitch bills, and intricate political strategies.
β’ Experience in staff management and project management.
β’ Experience overseeing remote teams and contract lobbyists.
β’ Exceptional time management, organizational, and research capabilities.
β’ Ability to prioritize tasks and handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment.
β’ Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Capability to draft legislation and policy memos.
β’ Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
β’ Comfortable using CRM and legislative tracking software.
β’ JD or an advanced degree in public policy, public administration, political science, planning, or a related field is preferred.
