VFD Technical Support Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance via phone and email for typical issues associated with low-voltage Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

• Support customers and field technicians with the commissioning, troubleshooting, and evaluation of warranty claims.

• Aid customers in drive programming, parameter setup, communication, and integration with control systems.

• Work collaboratively with engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to address intricate technical challenges.

• Partner with the warranty team to initiate warranty replacements and authorize labor for warranty repairs.

• Keep thorough documentation of support cases, solutions, and best practices using Salesforce Case Management and additional tools.

• Remain updated on VFD technologies, software enhancements, and industry developments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of pertinent Electrical or Technical experience, or an associate’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant Electrical or Technical experience is mandatory.

• Required knowledge of the operation of Variable Frequency Drives.

• Strong understanding of electrical principles.

• Capability to apply electrical concepts when troubleshooting drives.

• Proficient in responding to customer queries and communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Computer proficiency is essential.

• Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.

• Preferred: familiarity with or direct experience in motors and/or control system wiring and communication protocols such as Modbus and BACnet.

• Preferred: prior experience troubleshooting a technical product over the phone.
