UX Designer – AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of UX activities from the discovery phase through to validated design for designated AI Forge capabilities and workflows.

• Convert intricate software lifecycle tasks into user-friendly product experiences.

• Design human-AI interactions that effectively communicate system status, sources, assumptions, confidence levels, limitations, and suggested next steps.

• Develop user flows, journey maps, information architectures, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready interface designs.

• Organize and carry out user interviews, workflow observations, usability studies, concept tests, and design validation sessions.

• Oversee design reviews, approvals, corrections, comparisons, versioning, feedback, and exception-handling experiences.

• Collaborate with product managers to clarify user challenges, refine requirements, prioritize opportunities, and establish measurable experience outcomes.

• Work with engineers to assess feasibility, address trade-offs, support implementation, and evaluate delivered quality.

• Contribute reusable components, interaction patterns, content guidance, and accessibility standards to the AI Forge design system.

• Utilize AI-driven research, prototyping, synthesis, and design tools while independently validating outputs.

• Document design reasoning and communicate recommendations to technical leaders, delivery teams, and stakeholders.

• Engage with AI Forge, NetImpact Strategies’ platform for AI-driven software production and sustainment throughout the software lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in user experience, interaction design, human-computer interaction, visual design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least three years of professional experience in UX design for complex digital products.

• A portfolio that showcases end-to-end product thinking, including discovery, problem framing, interaction design, prototyping, validation, iteration, and successful outcomes.

• Strong understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, information architecture, visual hierarchy, responsive design, and usability principles.

• Proficiency with Figma or similar design and prototyping tools, including components, variants, libraries, and developer handoff.

• Experience designing data-rich, workflow-intensive, enterprise, developer, or business applications.

• Proven ability to conduct effective user research and translate insights into clear product decisions.

• Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design, including practices informed by WCAG.

• Ability to simplify technical complexity while ensuring that users have access to necessary information for informed decision-making.

• Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to justify design decisions using evidence.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fully remote, cross-functional environment.

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain Federal Government clearance.

• Preferred: experience in designing AI-assisted, generative AI, agentic, recommendation, automation, or decision-support experiences.

• Preferred: understanding of human-AI UX considerations such as uncertainty, explainability, controllability, trust calibration, error recovery, provenance, feedback, and human oversight.

• Preferred: experience in prototyping AI interactions and testing optimal paths and failure states generated by variable model outputs.

• Preferred: familiarity with developer tools, software engineering platforms, DevSecOps products, enterprise SaaS, or technically complex systems.

• Preferred: knowledge of software development concepts, APIs, version control, requirements management, testing, CI/CD, cloud environments, or product analytics.

• Preferred: experience designing for regulated, security-sensitive, government, or mission-oriented environments.
