This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee the advancement of electrical design from initial concepts to IFC and construction stages.
• Assess and confirm conductor schedules, equipment specifications and layouts, as well as monitoring and communication systems, grounding, string layouts, voltage drop calculations, and other related deliverables.
• Act as the electrical design and constructability expert for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Offer technical support to internal teams, engineering partners, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with teams in Engineering, Preconstruction, Estimating, Procurement, and Operations.
• Conduct electrical design evaluations at 30%, 90%, IFC, and construction-phase milestones.
• Identify and address risks, gaps, and inconsistencies in electrical design packages.
• Assess design choices based on constructability, installation efficiency, equipment availability, code compliance, customer requirements, and cost implications.
• Liaise with customers, developers, AHJs, engineering firms, regulatory agencies, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assist with permitting and regulatory coordination.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including addressing field issues, design clarifications, RFI responses, change impacts, and installation concerns.
• Maintain project electrical files, drawings, documents, records, and design information.
• Enhance electrical design processes, standards, templates, and compile lessons learned.
• Manage multiple complex projects and prioritize design tasks effectively.
• Travel to project sites as required to assess conditions, coordinate designs, resolve field issues, and validate electrical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
• 1–2 years of experience in solar or power systems design.
• Familiarity with NEC and renewable energy standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVCase, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Capability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, or wet environments.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 80 lbs.
