Senior Electrical Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and designers to design, modify, and analyze both new and existing electrical systems for nuclear power plants.

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical engineering challenges.

• Prepare and review packages for engineering design changes related to the installation, replacement, or upgrades of plant equipment.

• Conduct and assess engineering calculations, including AC/DC power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.

• Develop and review equipment procurement specifications.

• Participate in bid evaluation processes and address vendor inquiries.

• Prepare and review scoping documents for conceptual designs and conduct constructability reviews.

• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C disciplines.

• Engage with clients and vendors through document reviews and provide written feedback.

• Attend meetings with clients and conduct site walkdowns.

• Travel to client and vendor locations as well as plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.

• Support installation activities on-site during project execution.

• Assist the project manager in achieving project completion in terms of schedule and budget.

• Oversee the technical, financial, and administrative performance of the engineering scope.

• Define project deliverables, review team progress, track status, submit reports, address issues, and coordinate the completion of deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems within a project team setting for industrial applications, preferably with a focus on existing nuclear power plants.

• Proficient in selecting equipment and materials, as well as preparing and assembling engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.

• Experience in electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to project team members and clients.

• Detail-oriented approach to tasks.

• Ability to obtain a badge for unescorted access to a nuclear power station.

• No requirement for U.S. work authorization sponsorship.

• PE license is valued but not mandatory.

• MSEE is valued but not mandatory.
