This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria, +1 more country.
• Assess customer utility accounts and billing histories to pinpoint high-value accounts for further investigation.
• Download and arrange historical utility bills and relevant documentation.
• Draft communications to utility providers addressing billing discrepancies, suspected errors, and accompanying findings.
• Maintain consistent folder structures and audit files for clients, utility types, accounts, and properties.
• Prioritize accounts based on billing thresholds and potential financial implications.
• Convert utility statements into clear PDFs for extraction and analysis.
• Utilize AI-driven tools to extract up to 24 months of utility billing data into organized spreadsheets.
• Analyze billing data through Month-over-Month and Year-over-Year comparisons.
• Examine billing dates, charges, consumption, rates, tariffs, meter types, rate classes, and itemized costs.
• Detect irregular usage patterns, billing anomalies, unjustified charges, and potential overbilling.
• Manually verify AI-generated data against original utility bills.
• Research property characteristics and operational factors influencing utility usage.
• Develop targeted inquiries for clients regarding property operations and consumption trends.
• Investigate suspected billing errors, including incorrect rate classes, meter types, and tariff violations.
• Assist in calculating historical overcharges and document evidence for audit findings.
• Validate utility tariffs, rate schedules, regulations, and supporting documentation using official sources.
• Handle multiple high-priority accounts while ensuring accuracy and organization.
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in data analysis, auditing, utility billing, energy management, financial analysis, or forensic analysis is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical abilities to identify patterns, anomalies, discrepancies, and potential errors in extensive financial and operational datasets.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Experience handling large volumes of documents and maintaining organized digital filing systems.
• Familiarity with AI-powered data extraction or document analysis tools is a plus.
• Experience in reviewing utility bills, tariffs, rate schedules, meter types, or energy consumption data is preferred.
• Strong research skills with the ability to interpret official utility, regulatory, and public sources.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to manually verifying data accuracy.
• Ability to compare Month-over-Month and Year-over-Year performance and identify unusual variances.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
• Capacity to determine potential causes of discrepancies.
• Comfortable managing multiple accounts and priorities concurrently.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and discretion in handling client financial and operational information.
• Reliable computer, noise-canceling headset, second monitor, stable internet connection, and backup internet connection.
• Availability to work from 10am to 6pm US Eastern Standard Time.
