This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Review encounters in prebill or retrospective workflows to verify coding profiles.
• Assess relevant code sets, abstracted data elements, missed query opportunities, and associated encounter data.
• Conduct quality coding reviews and audits in accordance with departmental productivity and accuracy standards.
• Assist with re-bills and coding corrections following coding audits.
• Compile written summary reports of findings.
• Coordinate and facilitate individual or small-group feedback sessions.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders as well as peer departments.
• Support peer departments with production coding during staff shortages.
• Enhance data quality for reporting and research, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Conduct educational sessions and lead round-table discussions.
• Contribute content for the coding newsletter.
• Analyze trends and data for potential opportunities.
• Evaluate codes through data reports, confirm findings, and suggest action plans.
• Execute additional tasks assigned by the Coding Supervisor.
• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• An associate degree/college diploma or a bachelor's in health information management is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in Coding Audits.
• Auditing skills related to the coding/billing accuracy of coding staff.
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Administrator, or Registered Health Information Technician is required upon hire.
