Underground Engineer

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Lead the technical engineering efforts for multi-discipline underground electrical transmission and distribution initiatives.

β€’ Oversee engineering design timelines, budget management, and the delivery of high-quality solutions.

β€’ Implement and uphold Underground Electric Design, Construction, and client-specific standards.

β€’ Supervise data collection and system modeling related to underground infrastructure engineering.

β€’ Make decisions regarding project execution to ensure technical compliance and adherence to contract commitments.

β€’ Design underground systems in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

β€’ Direct the creation of comprehensive engineering drawing packages using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

β€’ Collaborate with designers, engineers, and external consultants on multi-discipline design projects.

β€’ Assess regional requirements and tailor system designs to overcome project challenges.

β€’ Facilitate the permitting process through local, county, state, and federal authorities having jurisdiction.

β€’ Review RFIs, contractor submissions, and shop drawings to aid construction processes.

β€’ Estimate project costs and draft technical content for RFPs and sales proposals.

β€’ Collaborate with Business Development teams to secure contracts in utility engineering.

β€’ Ensure compliance with corporate quality management programs and deliverables.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

β€’ A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.

β€’ At least 4 years of direct experience in electric utility distribution engineering.

β€’ Demonstrated experience in designing overhead and/or underground electric systems.

β€’ Extensive knowledge of utility design standards, industry safety codes such as NESC, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

β€’ Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS platforms, and Distribution Design Studio (DDS).

β€’ EIT Certification is required.

β€’ A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
