This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development and validation of next-generation multi-physics methods that integrate subchannel thermal-hydraulics, system thermal-hydraulics, and neutronics.

• Assist in the qualification of methods through the selection of benchmarks, definition of acceptance criteria, and comparison with experimental data or established reference analyses.

• Create and review documentation for software quality assurance.

• Prepare and validate subchannel analyses, including steady-state and transient margin assessments and CHF predictions.

• Prepare and validate coupled thermal-hydraulic evaluations, including LOCA, non-LOCA transients, and design-basis assessments.

• Collaborate with teams across Nuclear Fuels, core design, fuel design, subchannel thermal-hydraulics, and transient analysis.

• Develop workflows that enhance consistency, automation, or integration across multi-physics safety analyses.

• Contribute to the preparation of licensing technical/topical reports, license applications, and other necessary licensing documentation.

• Engage in licensing interactions with the government regulatory body.

• Prepare and validate engineering reports, calculations, studies, system descriptions, requirement specifications, and other design documentation.

• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and oversee analysis tasks.

• Solve complex issues through creativity and innovation.

• Support the adaptation to shifting priorities, urgent analysis requirements, cross-functional reviews, technical problem-solving, and special studies.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or a related field) from an accredited four-year college or university.

• At least 5 years of full-time, directly relevant engineering experience.

• Experience in implementing engineering design processes for subchannel thermal-hydraulics, transient analysis, and related safety assessments.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

• Preferred experience in neutronics or fuel performance.

• An advanced degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is desirable.

• Familiarity with PWR thermal-hydraulic principles, design-basis safety analysis, and the interfaces with core design, fuel design, neutronics, and transient analysis.

• Understanding and application of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines outlined in 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

• Capability to travel nationally and locally using standard modes of transportation.

• Proficient communication skills using phones, interpersonal interaction, and computers.

• Ability to quickly learn new functions and accurately apply concepts in a rapidly changing environment.
