This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform evaluations of VIPRE subchannels, including CHF predictions and thermal margin calculations, following established methods.

• Maintain and ensure the accuracy of subchannel models, including inputs, correlations, and boundary conditions.

• Execute RELAP analyses for LOCA, non-LOCA transients, and various design-basis scenarios.

• Document the setup of models, underlying assumptions, and results in compliance with approved standards.

• Evaluate system performance and protective features in relation to safety-analysis acceptance criteria.

• Identify the implications of design changes on thermal-hydraulic margins and communicate the results.

• Assist in cross-functional thermal-hydraulic reviews for reload safety analyses, modifications in plant design, operational concepts, and licensing deliverables.

• Analyze margin sensitivities and the effects of design changes on interfaces.

• Oversee design and analysis interfaces within the Nuclear Fuels division.

• Contribute to the technical development of licensing reports, license applications, and other necessary licensing documentation.

• Draft and validate engineering reports, calculations, studies, system descriptions, requirement specifications, and additional design documents.

• Develop innovative solutions to complex problems through creativity and resourcefulness.

• Adapt to changing organizational priorities, including urgent analytical needs, cross-functional reviews, technical troubleshooting, and special studies.

• Collaborate with teams from Nuclear Methods, Nuclear Design, Code Development, Engineering, and Operations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or a related field) from an accredited four-year college or university.

• An advanced degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.

• At least 3 years of full-time, relevant engineering experience.

• Experience in implementing engineering design processes for subchannel thermal-hydraulics, transient analysis, or related safety analysis.

• Preferably experienced in neutronics or fuel performance.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

• Familiarity with PWR thermal-hydraulic principles, design basis safety analysis, and interactions with core design, fuel design, neutronics, and transient analysis.

• Knowledge of and adherence to quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

• Ability to travel both nationally and locally using standard transportation methods.

• Capable of understanding and communicating effectively via phone, personal interaction, and computer systems.
