Underground Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical engineering efforts for multi-disciplinary underground electrical transmission and distribution projects.

• Oversee engineering design timelines, budget management, and the delivery of high-caliber solutions.

• Implement and uphold Underground Electric Design, Construction, and client-specific standards.

• Supervise data gathering and system modeling for underground infrastructure engineering.

• Make decisions on project execution regarding technical adherence and contractual obligations.

• Design underground systems in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

• Direct the development of comprehensive AutoCAD and MicroStation engineering drawing packages.

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and external consultants on multi-disciplinary design initiatives.

• Analyze regional requirements to tailor system designs accordingly.

• Facilitate the permitting process through local, county, state, and federal authorities.

• Review Requests for Information (RFIs), contractor submissions, and shop drawings to support construction processes.

• Estimate project expenses and create technical content for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and sales proposals.

• Work alongside Business Development to secure utility engineering contracts.

• Ensure compliance with corporate quality management programs and deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.

• A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in electric utility distribution engineering.

• Demonstrated success in designing overhead and/or underground electric systems.

• Extensive knowledge of utility design standards, industry safety regulations such as NESC, and compliance frameworks.

• Expertise in AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS platforms, and Distribution Design Studio (DDS).

• EIT Certification is required.

• Professional Engineer (PE) designation is preferred.
