This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Develop, theme, and sustain scalable front-end components using Drupal 10.
• Convert design mockups into responsive web applications.
• Collaborate with backend scientific developers to merge UI components, interactive dashboards, and visual tools with data streams and web services.
• Create clean, modern, and reusable front-end assets that adhere to contemporary web standards and Drupal theme frameworks.
• Design accessible, mobile-first user journeys for space weather maps, charts, and forecasts.
• Ensure interfaces comply with federal Section 508 and WCAG standards.
• Conduct testing and optimization of interfaces across major browsers, devices, and viewports.
• Assist in the research-to-operations process by integrating new models, data sources, and processing workflows into operational test environments.
• Construct and enhance interfaces for spaceweather.gov and testbed.spaceweather.gov.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Web Engineering, Interactive Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Over 5 years of focused web development and UI/UX front-end engineering experience.
• Proven experience in custom-theming and developing front-end components in Drupal 10.
• Familiarity with Twig, custom layouts, and the Drupal Render API.
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern CSS layouts such as Flexbox and CSS Grid.
• Keen attention to visual details and a dedication to delivering polished, high-quality user interfaces.
• Proficient in Git and typical collaborative development workflows.
• Preferred experience in data visualizations or mapping interfaces for scientific, meteorological, or geospatial applications.
• Familiarity with Leaflet, OpenLayers, Chart.js, or D3.js is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Federal Section 508 web accessibility compliance and testing tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with Docker, DDEV, or Lando is preferred.
• Preferred experience working with scientific, engineering, or research teams in an Agile environment.
