This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Integrate design thinking with frontend software engineering within an Agile framework.
• Transform user personas, operational workflows, and analytical needs into responsive and functional interfaces.
• Contribute to a global design system while managing the shared component library utilizing Angular and custom UI frameworks.
• Implement styles for reusable component libraries and structure global Sass/SCSS stylesheets.
• Design and refine high-fidelity wireframes, interaction models, screens, user flow diagrams, and interactive prototypes using Figma.
• Ensure that customer-facing features are visually appealing and fully compliant with Section 508.
• Conduct accessibility compliance testing and remediation, ensuring keyboard navigation, focus control, screen reader support, and error highlighting are met.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, senior developers, engineers, and architects to assess frontend feasibility and enhance requirements.
• Assist in analyzing and executing spikes to explore emerging technologies and address styling challenges related to Kendo UI and custom widgets.
• Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to optimize the design-to-code handoff process.
• Contribute to UI guides and documentation focused on developer styling.
• Create and validate layouts and typography across various devices, form factors, and resolutions.
• Work together on Angular workspace consolidation, configuration updates, and dependency management.
• Advocate for and practice design thinking, technical empathy, and continuous improvement.
• Achieve performance metrics related to design alignment, sprint delivery, component utilization, accessibility pass rates, and effective collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related IT field, or FOUR (4) years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
• SIX (6) years of professional experience in a role such as UI/UX Engineer, Front-End Developer, or UX Designer.
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/Sass, TypeScript, and Angular (v14+).
• Practical experience with Figma for asset extraction, specification inspection, and prototyping.
• Hands-on experience with 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance and remediation.
• Familiarity with 2-week Agile sprint structures, including story refinement and collaborative work.
• Capability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Knowledge of Kendo UI, Google Looker, and CSS-in-JS is preferred.
• Nielsen Norman Group (NNg) UX Training or similar foundational UX coursework is advantageous.
• Google Looker or Google Analytics Training/Certifications is a plus.
• Technical Certifications in Angular / Frontend Engineering are beneficial.
• 508 Compliance / Trusted Tester Certification is desirable.
