This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the Case Management Modernization (CMM) Program for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts by integrating design and engineering.
• Combine UX research with high-fidelity prototypes to create intuitive, accessible, and efficient user experiences.
• Develop clean, production-ready code utilizing Human-Centered Design (HCD) and usability design principles.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UI Architects, Developers, and HCD Specialists to convert research findings into design specifications.
• Transform high-fidelity prototypes into responsive, accessible, and high-performing React front-end applications and reusable UI components.
• Ensure that designs adhere to HCD principles, program goals, and Agile methodologies.
• Establish and maintain UI/UX and front-end coding standards.
• Assess designs for compliance with Section 508, usability, and WCAG accessibility standards.
• Facilitate rapid prototyping, validation, and iterative feedback throughout sprint cycles.
• Offer insights on UI consistency, interaction design, and reuse of design systems.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Compliance teams to confirm usability and accessibility in production releases.
• Create HCD Implementation Plans.
• Generate accessibility and compliance reports that validate adherence to Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and FedRAMP UI standards.
• Contribute standardized templates and components to the shared UI library.
• Enhance task completion efficiency and user satisfaction.
• Minimize post-release UI-related defects through proactive design validation.
• Over 8 years of experience in UI/UX design development, with at least 5 years in a Human-Centered Design role for enterprise or government applications.
• Strong grasp of Agile/SAFe delivery and iterative design integration.
• Proficient in usability testing methodologies, such as heuristic evaluations, card sorting, and A/B testing.
• Skilled in tools like Figma, Sketch, Storybook, Axure, Miro, or similar.
• Strong expertise in React, including reusable functional components, component state and props, responsive interfaces, and production integration.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and principles of responsive design.
• Significant experience with Sass or other CSS preprocessors.
• Familiarity with designing for federal systems, including practical knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG compliance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related discipline.
• Experience in designing for federal digital modernization programs or court/case management systems.
• Knowledge of DesignOps and UX governance practices.
• Experience in data-driven UX optimization utilizing Google Analytics or Hotjar.
• Understanding of Zero Trust Design and secure user interface principles.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted UX tools or predictive usability models.
• Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or Certified HCD Professional is preferred.
• SAFe Agile Practitioner (SPC or SSM) is preferred.
• Section 508 Trusted Tester Certification is highly desirable.
• UX Design or HCD Certification is advantageous.
• At least 10 years of general experience in information systems.
• Minimum of 8 years of specialized experience.
• Minimum Education: BA/BS.
• Experience may substitute for education: HS (16+ years), AA/AS (14+ years), BA/BS (12+ years), Doctorate Degree/Ph.D. (9+ years).
• Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
