This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and develop game user interfaces, including menus, HUDs, widgets, and interactive elements.
• Construct and manage UI components directly within Unreal Engine using UMG.
• Design UI layouts, states, navigation flows, interactions, and transitions.
• Transform UI concepts and visual designs into operational in-game interfaces.
• Collaborate closely with UI programmers to incorporate visual assets into the game.
• Partner with game designers and programmers to outline and execute UI requirements.
• Rapidly prototype UI in Unreal and refine based on playtesting and feedback.
• Ensure consistency throughout the various UI systems and screens in the game.
• Assist in defining reusable UI patterns and components.
• Guarantee that UI is responsive, clear, and intuitive during gameplay.
• Oversee the UI implementation from initial prototype to final polish and ongoing updates.
• Proven experience as a UI Designer within the gaming industry.
• Deep understanding of game UI design and visual hierarchy principles.
• Practical experience in creating and implementing UI in Unreal Engine.
• Strong proficiency in UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics).
• Comfortable operating directly within the Unreal Editor.
• Experience in developing menus, HUDs, widgets, and interactive UI flows.
• Ability to work with UI art assets and successfully integrate them into functional interfaces.
• Familiarity with basic UX principles, especially regarding navigation, menus, and player interactions.
• Experience with live games and adapting UI based on player feedback and requirements.
• Comfortable collaborating with programmers, designers, and artists.
• Meticulous attention to detail and an eye for finishing touches.
• Experience in launching and maintaining UI systems in a live game environment.
• Current residency in Ontario or Quebec, or readiness to relocate to Ontario.
• Bonus: Knowledge of Unreal Blueprints and basic scripting.
• Bonus: Experience in prototyping UI/UX directly within the engine.
• Bonus: Understanding of best practices in accessibility and usability.
• Bonus: Some familiarity with UI animation and motion design.
• Bonus: Experience working closely with gameplay programmers and technical designers.
