Tribal Technical Assistance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Offer expert consultation to Tribal CCDF grantee staff in collaboration with OCC Regional Office personnel.

• Identify and disseminate culturally responsive promising practices for CCDF-funded center-based, family, and in-home child care programs.

• Assist in provider/teacher quality enhancement and supply-building initiatives.

• Aid in the effective administration and execution of CCDF regulations.

• Conduct research and develop timely responses to inquiries from Tribal CCDF grantees and Regional Office.

• Write and evaluate materials.

• Organize technical assistance and training sessions, including content creation and facilitation.

• Lead meetings and training sessions with Tribal CCDF grantee staff, OCC Regional Office and National Center personnel, and TA partners.

• Employ results-based facilitation, accountability, Indigenous knowledge, and strengths-based methodologies.

• Create meeting agendas, process agendas, summary reports, and other relevant meeting documentation.

• Design, deliver, and facilitate both remote and onsite individualized, tailored, and intensive technical assistance.

• Collaborate with OCC Regional Program Manager, OCC National Centers, TA partners, Tribal and community organizations, child care programs, and early childhood providers on a national, regional, and statewide level.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of proven experience in early childhood services working with children and families from various cultural and economic backgrounds.

• More than 5 years of experience providing training and technical assistance in early care and education.

• Strong skills in consultation, presentation, and facilitation.

• Knowledge of CCDF regulations and relevant federal, state, Tribal, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

• Current understanding of child development practices and research-based early childhood quality improvement methods and strategies.

• Ability to create training and technical assistance materials.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).

• Familiarity with E-learning, webinar, and project management tools such as Smartsheet.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Capability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

• Ability to apply intricate knowledge of organizational procedures and make independent decisions.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and limited overtime as required.

• Extensive travel throughout the United States is necessary.

• Experience working with Federally recognized Tribes and Native communities is preferred.

• Preferred knowledge of Native Language Revitalization and/or dual language programs.

• Understanding of trauma-informed care and support for children's social-emotional needs is preferred.

• Experience in a leadership capacity within a CCDF/Head Start Program or a similar role is preferred.

• Experience delivering training at State, Regional, or National Conferences/Meetings and providing technical assistance to individual organizations is preferred.

• Familiarity with state, Tribal, and/or national policies, early care and education regulations, and systems is preferred.

• Experience with CCDF and/or other Tribal or state early learning program implementation is preferred.

• Background in child care leadership and coordination, management systems, financial oversight, program integrity, health and safety standards, professional development strategies, monitoring, continuous quality improvement, provider licensing/approval, subsidy child and family eligibility, consumer education, and child curriculum and assessment is preferred.

• Experience in building partnerships and leading collaborative committees, workgroups, or task forces is preferred.
