Traverse Operations Packet Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, coordination, transition, and execution of traverse operations in support of the Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract (ASESC).

• Act as the main point of contact for all operational planning related to traverse activities, transition processes, and coordination with stakeholders.

• Manage the transportation of personnel, equipment, fuel, cargo, and scientific supplies between stations and remote field locations.

• Ensure that traverse operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual, environmental, and operational standards.

• Collaborate with teams in Science Planning, Science Implementation, Logistics, Fleet Operations, Safety, Field Operations, and Station Management.

• Supervise the readiness of the traverse fleet, availability of equipment, maintenance scheduling, and operational support requirements.

• Lead initiatives for route planning, hazard assessments, weather evaluations, and operational risk management activities.

• Track operational performance and seek opportunities to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.

• Generate reports, operational analyses, performance metrics, and briefings for executive-level stakeholders.

• Assist in budget planning, resource distribution, and equipment replacement strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Capable of passing a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Transportation, or a related field; equivalent experience may be accepted as a substitute for a degree.

• Generally, 7+ years of experience in transportation operations, logistics, expeditionary operations, or a related field.

• Proven experience in planning and executing complex transportation, logistics, or field operations involving multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and decision-making capabilities.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to effectively engage operational, technical, and management personnel.

• Knowledge of operational planning, logistics, fleet management, or resource management systems.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Preferred: Experience leading overland traverse operations or large-scale transportation initiatives.

• Preferred: Experience supporting government contracts, large-scale transitions, or program mobilizations.
